Q. Can I search Google Scholar to find full-text scholarly journal articles?
Last Updated: Aug 08, 2025     Views: 619

Yes, many articles that you find searching Google Scholar are available full text; however, many articles are not and are behind a password or pay wall. You can configure Google Scholar to link to full text resources available through the CMU Library by following the instructions linked to below.

You can also simply copy the title of the article, not the journal, and paste it into Smart Search. Smart Search will tell you whether we have access to the article through one of our database subscriptions or if you need to request a copy from Documents on Demand.
