Q. How do I find a subject expert for a specific discipline?
Last Updated: Jun 02, 2017     Views: 101

Many journal databases provide information on scholars and experts in specific subject areas.  A good place to start is the library's Research Guides, which are designed to point you to the most helpful resources in your subject area or course.

Once you have selected a subject guide, choose a database related to your subject.  The following databases provide a searchable listing of subject experts in various fields.  Just search the databases using terms related to your topic, then click on the SCHOLARS tab at the top of the page.

You can access these databases through our Databases A-Z list linked below.

  • EconLit
  • ERIC
  • GeoRef
  • MLA International Bibliography
  • PAIS International
  • Philosopher's Index
  • PILOTS Database
  • PsycARTICLES and PsycINFO
  • RILM Abstracts of Music Literature
  • Social Services Abstracts
  • Sociological Abstracts
  • Worldwide Political Science Abstracts

You will also find contact information for subject librarians on most research guides, or you can access the full list of subject librarians using the link below.
